Ingredients

Whipped Coffee
  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water
For Serving
  • 1 cup milk dairy, almond, oat, or soy
  • Ice cubes optional, for iced version

Equipment

  • Bowl for mixing coffee foam
  • Hand mixer or whisk for whipping the coffee
  • Spoon for topping the foam
  • Glass for serving

Method

  1. In a small bowl, add the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water. Stir briefly until combined.
  2. Whip the mixture using a hand mixer, whisk, or fork until it becomes thick, light brown, and forms soft peaks. This takes about 2 minutes with a mixer or 8–10 minutes by hand.
  3. Fill a glass three-quarters full with milk. Add ice if making iced dalgona coffee.
  4. Spoon the whipped coffee foam on top of the milk.
  5. Stir before drinking and enjoy your creamy dalgona coffee.

Notes

  • Always use instant coffee. Ground coffee will not whip or form foam.
  • Use the 1:1:1 ratio of coffee, sugar, and hot water for best results.
  • For iced dalgona coffee, use cold milk and plenty of ice.
  • You can flavor the foam with vanilla, cocoa powder, cinnamon, or caramel.
  • Stir the foam into the milk before drinking for the best taste.
